It is a steep-sided ravine consisting of two branches that have a combined length of about 30 miles (48 km) and are 295 feet (90 metres) deep. Deposits exposed in the sides of the gorge cover a time span from about 2.1 million to 15,000 years ago. The deposits have yielded the fossil remains of more than 60 hominins (members of the human lineage), providing the most continuous known record of human evolution during the past 2 million years, as well as the longest known archaeological record of the development of stone-tool industries. Olduvai Gorge was designated part of a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1979. Olduvai Gorge has often been called the "Cradle of Mankind".
Visit Ngorongoro Crater, it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the most-visited regions of Tanzania and is often referred to as the eighth wonder of the world. The crater is actually the world's largest intact caldera, with the walls of the crater being roughly 670m (2000 ft) high and the crater floor measuring roughly 18km (10 miles) in diameter. The crater floor has its own ecosystem and environment and it is not uncommon for the temperature to be significantly warmer on the crater floor than it is at the rim of the crater. The elevation of the rim is around 2280m (7500 ft) and the base is around 1680m (5500 ft). Between the crater rim and floor, it is possible to see all of the 'big five' at Ngorongoro Crater. The big five are: buffalo, elephant, leopard, lion and rhino. Animals move to and fro in search of pasture, water, or prey. You will have ample opportunities to see numerous giraffe, zebra, warthog, jackal, hippo, hyena, and more.

En route, stop at Cultural Heritage Center - a shopping mainstay in Arusha. The center attracts many travelers with its abundance of wooden carvings, artifacts, apparel, and crafts. The center also has Tanzanite and other gemstones for sale. They also have wonderful cultural displays and a separate wing that displays some of the finest African art in Tanzania. Post lunch; continue to the airport for your onwards journey.
Upon arrival in Kilimanjaro, proceed to Ngorongoro Conservation Area via Arusha, safari capital of East Africa. Overnight in Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
After breakfast, depart for a full day crater tour with picnic lunch. Once a large volcano that later collapsed, is now the largest intact caldera in the world. The crater floor has abundant water, which provides excellent grazing for resident herbivores.
